RF/SATCOM Technician

About the role

The RF/SATCOM Technician is responsible for installing, sustaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of radio frequency and satellite communication equipment. This position supports both line‑of‑sight and beyond‑line‑of‑sight systems, ensuring reliable communications for mission‑critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, connect, and secure transmitters, power supplies, antenna assemblies, and related components.
• Troubleshoot and repair RF wireless, satellite, and encryption transmission devices across multiple waveforms.
• Perform alignment, calibration, and testing to maintain maximum system efficiency.
• Interpret layout drawings, schematics, and pictorial diagrams to resolve maintenance issues.
• Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, and equipment logs; record meter readings and data.
• Requisition, account for, and turn in supplies and materials as required.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED; formal electronics training (military technical school, vocational college, or four‑year apprenticeship).
• Minimum IAT Level II certification and baseline certification per AFMAN 17‑1303.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US CENTCOM medical exam and a US Government Secret security clearance (US citizenship required).

Required skills

• RF/SATCOM principles, line‑of‑sight and tropospheric scatter techniques.
• Electronics troubleshooting, schematic reading, and equipment calibration.
• Experience with systems such as CM‑200, CM‑300, GRC‑171/211, GRR‑23/24, PCAS, GRT‑21/22, PRC‑117F/G, RT‑1319, TRC‑176, URC‑200, EPLRS, MIDS LVT 2 & 11, AN/TRC‑214, Joint Radio Relay (JR2), Cornet TVCS‑L, LHSC, RT9000D, 721S‑1/2, ALE, Have Quick, SINCGARS, KY‑100, VSAT VRC‑103, TTRS, RT‑1747, Sun Air RT‑9000, Hawkeye Lite, Ranger 1200, iDirect 850/950 Modem, 2050E Modem.
• IP fundamentals and familiarity with deployable communications systems.
