Dairy/Frozen Department Manager

About the role

The Dairy/Frozen Manager leads the dairy and frozen sections of a grocery store, ensuring smooth operations, profitability, and exceptional customer service. This role also covers occasional duties in the deli and meat areas.

Key responsibilities

• Provide world‑class customer service and maintain a clean, well‑stocked department.
• Order products, manage inventory, and control margin, COGS, and shrink.
• Merchandise shelves, end‑caps, and dynamic displays; handle tagging, facing, rotating, markdowns, and back‑stock.
• Train, schedule, and monitor department staff; assign tasks and follow up on performance.
• Collaborate with other department managers for cross‑training and store‑wide initiatives.
• Conduct product demos, handle special orders, and answer customer nutrition questions.
• Perform register duties, cash handling, and assist with opening/closing procedures.
• Maintain safety, security, and respond to disruptions such as loitering or emergencies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• Ability to obtain forklift certification.
• 1‑2 years of retail or grocery experience; supervisory experience is a plus.
• Strong integrity, responsibility, and adherence to company policies.

Required skills

• Forklift operation certification.
• Proficiency with SAP and inventory management software (e.g., BEx).
• Basic data analysis and reporting.
