HSSE Officer / Specialist

About the role

The HSSE Officer / Specialist supports the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the company’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment management systems. The role ensures a safe and secure working environment, minimizes operational risks and maintains compliance with relevant laws, regulations and international HSSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor HSSE policies, procedures and standards.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections, safety observations and operational audits.
• Support preparation and review of risk assessments, job safety analyses, method statements and permit‑to‑work documentation.
• Monitor compliance with local HSSE legislation, regulatory requirements and contractual obligations.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, near‑misses, environmental events and security concerns, and produce detailed investigation reports.
• Maintain accurate HSSE records, registers, statistics, inspection and performance reports.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, awareness sessions and HSSE training to employees and contractors.
• Support emergency preparedness activities, including response plans, evacuation and fire drills.
• Ensure proper use and condition of personal protective equipment and other safety equipment.
• Verify that contractors and third parties comply with the company’s HSSE requirements.
• Participate in HSSE meetings, operational meetings and safety committees.
• Assist with environmental‑management activities such as waste management, pollution prevention and spill control.
• Prepare monthly HSSE reports, performance indicators and incident statistics for management.
• Support internal and external HSSE audits and inspections.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Security Management or a related field.
• Relevant HSSE certification such as NEBOSH International General Certificate, IOSH or OSHA.
