Junior Sous Chef

About the role

The Ritz-Carlton is looking for a Junior Sous Chef in Amman, Jordan, to supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and kitchen workers and to help deliver the brand's Gold Standards of service. The position is full time and non-management.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate cooks and kitchen workers, assist them with tasks and provide them with the items they need.
• Determine how food should be presented, create decorative displays and ensure proper portion, arrangement and garnish.
• Monitor the quantity of food prepared and the stock of kitchen supplies and food.
• Inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out-of-stock items, prepare special meals or substitutes, and maintain kitchen logs for the food safety program.
• Ensure food quality meets specifications and notify the manager if a product does not.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and motivating staff.
• Follow company, safety and security policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, complete safety training and certifications, and keep uniforms and personal appearance clean and professional.
• Address guests' service needs and build positive working relationships with colleagues.

Required profile

• Preferred: technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Preferred: 4 to 6 years of related work experience.
• Preferred: at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• No license or certification required.
