Senior Backend Engineer (Golang) – Marketplace ETA & Routing

About the role

Careem’s Marketplace ETA & Routing team builds the real‑time estimated delivery times and routing logic that power food, grocery, taxi and other services. As a Senior Software Engineer I, you will design, develop and maintain the highly reliable backend systems that enable these features at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services for real‑time ETA computation and delivery routing.
• Write high‑quality, performant Golang code and deliver complete features independently.
• Translate functional specifications into production‑grade backend solutions.
• Ensure system reliability through unit, integration and end‑to‑end testing.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, responding to incidents within defined SLAs.
• Contribute to agile and engineering practices and help drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with engineers across Jordan, Pakistan and Dubai, fostering technical excellence.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Hands‑on experience with Golang or a modern object‑oriented language (Java, C#, C++, Kotlin).
• Strong computer‑science fundamentals: object‑oriented design, data structures and algorithms.
