Tactical SATCOM Operator

About the role

The Tactical SATCOM Operator will support mission‑critical satellite communications for U.S. government operations from our Amman office. The role combines hands‑on equipment maintenance, network configuration, and security integration while requiring frequent overseas travel.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain tactical and commercial satellite communication equipment, including modems, LNBs, SSPA, ACU, UPS and generators.
• Use test measurement and diagnostic tools such as power meters, spectrum analyzers, firebirds and voltmeters.
• Configure LAN/WAN hardware (Cisco routers, switches, firewalls) and routing protocols (RIP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF).
• Install, repair and certify VSAT systems, fiber‑optic and CAT5E/6 cabling, patch panels and rack infrastructure.
• Set up TDMA/FDMA network configurations and integrate COMSEC devices (KG‑175 series, KG‑250X).
• Provide training on tactical SATCOM equipment and submit Satellite Access Requests (SAR/GAR).
• Travel OCONUS 50%+ to support mission requirements.

Required profile

• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.
• At least four years of experience installing, troubleshooting or maintaining communications electronic systems in a tactical environment.
• Four years operating antenna controllers, SSPA, LNB, fiber/coax/Ethernet, and TDMA/FDMA modems.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or 4‑6 years of relevant military experience with advanced commercial certification.

Required skills

• Knowledge of tactical and commercial satellite communication equipment.
• Proficiency with satellite modems, low‑noise blocks, intermediate‑frequency cabling, antenna motors and power amplifiers.
• Experience with TMDE tools (power meter, spectrum analyzer, firebird, voltmeter).
• LAN/WAN networking, Cisco routers/switches, firewalls and routing protocols (RIP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF).
• Familiarity with MPLS, VPLS, VPNs, wireless, Riverbed and Call Manager Express.
• Installation and maintenance of VSATs, fiber‑optic and CAT5E/6 infrastructure.
• Configuration of TDMA/FDMA networks and COMSEC equipment integration.
