Design Engineer (Electrical, LV)

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer (Electrical, LV) to develop, review, and deliver low‑voltage electrical designs for construction and infrastructure projects. The role supports project delivery from concept through detailed design and tender stages, working closely with project managers, multidisciplinary teams, and site personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop low‑voltage power distribution, switchboards, earthing, cable schedules, lighting layouts, emergency and standby power systems, and perform segregation/coordination studies.
• Prepare design calculations, load schedules, short‑circuit, protective device coordination, voltage‑drop and harmonic assessments, documenting assumptions and results.
• Create and review single‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel schedules and installation details using AutoCAD, Revit or other BIM tools.
• Coordinate interfaces with civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation and control disciplines, and resolve design conflicts.
• Support tendering and procurement by preparing specifications, responding to technical queries and reviewing vendor data sheets.
• Assist with site inspections, installation verification, commissioning activities and provide technical support during construction.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; professional registration (PE, P.Eng., CEng) is an advantage.
• Minimum 7 years of low‑voltage electrical design experience in construction, infrastructure or consultancy environments.
• Proven ability to produce design calculations, diagrams and construction‑ready documentation for medium to large projects.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting construction and commissioning phases.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (or other BIM tools) for electrical drawings.
• Familiarity with electrical design software such as ETAP, Ecodial, SKM or EasyPower.
• Strong LV design calculation skills: load assessment, fault level, short‑circuit analysis, protection coordination, voltage‑drop calculations.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEC, local regulations) and equipment datasheets.
• Competence with Microsoft Excel and Word for schedules, reports and document control.
