Disability-inclusive Education Consultant

About the role

The consultancy supports the establishment and operationalisation of the Secretariat of the Leadership Council on Disability‑Inclusive Education. It provides technical expertise and coordination capacity to advance inclusive education globally.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate Leadership Council activities, partnerships, meetings and advocacy efforts.
• Develop policy, technical and advocacy outputs that reflect evidence‑based approaches.
• Strengthen collaboration among governments, UN agencies, donors, OPDs and civil‑society actors.
• Facilitate the translation of global commitments into concrete education system reforms.
• Provide technical advisory support to selected UNICEF country offices as required.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in inclusive or special education, international education, human development, social sciences or economics.
• At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in international disability‑inclusion or disability‑inclusive education, with a solid understanding of systems‑level reform and CRPD‑compliant approaches.
• Proven experience drafting high‑quality technical, policy, advocacy and reporting documents for senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex multi‑stakeholder partnerships involving governments, UN bodies, donors, technical partners, OPDs and civil‑society actors.
• Strong synthesis skills to turn complex discussions into clear recommendations and actionable outputs.
• Experience supporting Secretariat functions, including managing multi‑country workplans and meeting preparation.
