Junior Policy & Legislative Research Consultant

About the role

UN Women, in partnership with Jordan's Inter‑Ministerial Committee for Women’s Empowerment (IMC), seeks a Junior Policy and Legislative Research Consultant to provide focused research and analytical support on gender‑related legislative and policy issues. The consultant will work closely with the IMC Chair, advisors, technical working group, and the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) to inform government reforms.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct policy and legislative research on proposed or existing laws, regulations, and institutional arrangements affecting women and girls.
• Analyse implementation challenges and provide evidence‑based recommendations.
• Prepare briefs, reports, and policy notes for IMC members and JNCW.
• Facilitate access to relevant research, data, and technical analyses.
• Coordinate with gender focal points in line ministries and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Jordanian national with a university degree in law, public policy, gender studies, or a related social science.
• Early‑career experience in policy research, legislative analysis, or gender‑equality projects.
• Strong analytical and writing skills in English and Arabic.
• Familiarity with Jordan’s legal framework and gender‑mainstreaming processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to conduct systematic research and synthesize findings.
• Effective communication and stakeholder coordination.
