MEP Designer – Data Centre Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced MEP Designer to independently review mechanical, electrical and plumbing designs for data‑centre facilities. Based on‑site in Damascus Governorate, the role supports the PMO by ensuring all design deliverables are technically sound, code‑compliant and aligned with project requirements from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Review MEP design submissions at all stages (concept, schematic, detailed, IFC and shop drawings) and provide structured, actionable comments.
• Assess electrical packages – single‑line diagrams, HV/LV distribution, switchgear specs, UPS and generator sizing, cable schedules, earthing and protection studies.
• Evaluate mechanical designs – cooling load calculations, CRAC/CRAH layouts, chillers, cooling towers, pipework schematics and HVAC ductwork.
• Check fire‑suppression, plumbing and drainage designs for completeness and code compliance.
• Verify compliance with Tier classification (TIA‑942), resilience configurations (N+1, 2N) and PUE targets.
• Coordinate MEP disciplines, identify spatial conflicts and ensure cross‑discipline integration with CSA and ICT/ELV packages.
• Review BIM models, confirm required LOD, and validate clash detection before IFC issue.
• Track open review comments, evaluate contractor responses and maintain a live register of technical issues.
• Participate in design review meetings, BIM coordination sessions and produce minutes and action trackers.
• Support construction phase by reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, FAT/SAT procedures and commissioning plans, flagging deviations from approved designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8–12 years of MEP engineering experience in data‑centre projects.
• Proven ability to conduct independent technical reviews and ensure code compliance.
• Strong understanding of data‑centre standards, resilience concepts and energy‑efficiency metrics.
