Director of Engineering

About the role

The Director of Engineering will lead the engineering and maintenance function of a large luxury resort, ensuring that all facilities operate safely, securely and comfortably for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily engineering activities, assigning the right teams to the right tasks.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance programme.
• Oversee physical operations including maintenance, repairs, security and servicing.
• Respond to ad‑hoc duties and coordinate rapid task completion when required.
• Supervise maintenance and engineering staff, tradespeople and external contractors.

Required profile

• College or advanced vocational training.
• At least four years of experience in building maintenance or construction, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Specialised knowledge in plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry disciplines.
• Level 3 EPA certification, HVAC and refrigeration qualifications; licensed plumber, journeyman electrician or carpenter status may be required.
• Previous experience in a hotel or resort environment is preferred.
• Professional licences as required by local law.
