Expert in Water and Sanitation Governance (WANA Region)

About the role

The WASH Governance Group at IVL is seeking an Expert to lead and support water and sanitation governance projects across the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region from our Amman office. The role combines research, capacity building, and technical advisory to enhance climate‑resilient water and sanitation services.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of WANA programmes (≈80% of time), focusing on climate resilience and systems strengthening for water and sanitation services.
• Contribute to other IVL water and sanitation programmes outside the WANA region (≈20% of time).
• Develop methodologies, tools, and knowledge products related to water governance.
• Provide technical support and advice on governance issues for water supply and sanitation.
• Lead research and knowledge development activities.
• Conduct capacity‑building activities for partners and stakeholders.
• Manage projects as required, ensuring timely delivery and quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience in water and sanitation governance, preferably within the WANA region.
• Strong background in climate‑resilience and systems‑strengthening approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to develop methodologies, tools, and knowledge products.
• Experience in research, capacity building, and technical advisory.
• Project management experience with a collaborative, multicultural team.
