About the role
Sallem, a fast‑growing food‑delivery marketplace launching in Jordan, is seeking a Junior Accountant to own the financial engine of its high‑volume platform. You will manage bookkeeping, VAT compliance and reporting while collaborating with the technology team to analyse delivery unit economics.
Key responsibilities
- Own bookkeeping and reconciliation across customer payments, restaurant payouts, and driver earnings.
- Manage accounting systems (Zoho Books/Xero) to ensure VAT compliance and prepare investor reports.
- Reconcile payment‑processor settlements against internal ledgers.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and cash‑flow reports.
- Partner with the CTO to understand and report on delivery unit economics.
- Handle tax filings and compliance, supporting regional expansion.
Required profile
- 0‑2 years of accounting experience; experience in startups, marketplaces or payments is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Jordanian tax and VAT regulations.
- Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage high transaction volumes accurately.
- Fluent in Arabic and English.
