Commis I – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis I will support the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This full‑time position is based at Marriott International’s property on Al‑Hashemi Street in Aqaba.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, wash, peel, and store fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare and cook food, including cold dishes, while monitoring temperature and presentation.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Test foods for doneness and ensure consistent quality throughout preparation.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain proper receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives, and equipment.
• Check appliance and food temperatures and report any safety or maintenance issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least one year of related food‑service or kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 lb and perform repetitive motions for an entire shift.
