Commis B – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Commis B to join our kitchen team at a Marriott hotel in Amman. The role involves supporting chefs by preparing ingredients, cooking and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients, wash, peel, weigh, measure and mix according to recipes.
• Cook and assemble hot and cold dishes, ensuring quality, presentation and food safety standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Test food for doneness, monitor quality during preparation, and adjust as needed.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, tools and equipment.
• Check and record appliance and food temperatures, and follow all safety and security policies.
• Report maintenance needs, accidents or unsafe conditions to the manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a food‑and‑beverage or culinary environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift objects up to 25 lb without assistance.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Willingness to adhere to uniform standards and maintain confidentiality.

Required skills

• Food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Operation of kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fryers, microwaves).
• Knowledge of food safety and temperature control.
