Commis B – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Commis B to join our kitchen team at a Marriott hotel in Amman. The role involves supporting chefs by preparing ingredients, cooking simple dishes and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, wash, peel and store fresh fruits, vegetables and other ingredients.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Cook and assemble dishes following quality, presentation and food‑preparation checklists.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Test food for doneness, monitor quality and adjust as needed.
• Set‑up and break down work stations, serve food in correct portions and clean all kitchen areas, tools and equipment.
• Check and record appliance and food temperatures and follow all safety and security policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in a food‑service or kitchen environment.
• Ability to stand, walk and lift up to 25 lb for the duration of a shift.
• Willingness to follow company policies, maintain a professional appearance and protect confidential information.

Required skills

• Food preparation techniques (cutting, peeling, portioning).
• Operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Measuring, mixing and cooking according to recipes.
